Cycling route “Tour de LatEst”

in Northern Latvia and Southern Estonia

The 1 296 km long cycling route “Tour de LatEst” runs through two countries – Latvia and Estonia.  The route is very versatile in its scenic, visual, and informative qualities. By going on this tour, you can learn about the heritage of cultural history of Latvians and Estonians, visit the most popular tourism objects, and see the daily lives of the local inhabitants. The route crosses several protected natural territories of European importance – national and nature parks, scenic areas, and the biosphere reserve. Perfectly restored castles take turns with farmsteads surrounded by flower and apple gardens, asphalted highways with local gravel roads and forest paths. To cycle the whole route it will take two weeks (50-80 km per day).

There are signs, resting places and infostands with map and tourist information on the route. Tour de LatEst was made within the Estonia-Latvia cross-border cooperation programme project “Go cycling through Vidzeme and South-Estonia” (“ViSoEst by bike”).
